Fight to preserve Goa’s soul

I feel proud to be a Goan. Goa is known not only across India but around the world for its beautiful beaches, the sea, historical monuments, churches, temples, rich culture, harmony, and above all, the warm and friendly nature of Goan people who welcome visitors with respect and kindness.

When you travel abroad, or when people from other countries learn that you are from Goa, there is a special sense of respect. However, the growing number of outsiders claiming to be Goan is slowly weakening our unique identity. True Niz Goenkars will always take pride in being Goan. Outsiders cannot carry the responsibility of preserving our culture and traditions.

Sadly, builders and land mafias, often with the support of the present government, are trying to turn Goa into a concrete jungle. This is the main reason why Goans are coming out on the streets to protect their villages and secure their rights for future generations.

It is ironic that while many educated people are involved in destroying Goa’s natural beauty, it is the hardworking and less educated people who are standing up to protect the environment and preserve our heritage. We must come together to safeguard Goa’s environment, culture, and identity before it is too late.

A crowd quickly gathers,…
