The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was started in our State by the late Manohar Parrikar in 2004 in the name of bringing long term development and with the promise of giving guaranteed benefits for all the upcoming Goan film makers, actors, talented musicians/dance choreographers/artisans through this festival in Goa.
Unfortunately, nothing seems to have really changed, no one has benefited and we Goans are still where we are right from 2004 to date.
Forget other parts of Goa, the city of Panjim itself practically turns into a chaotic city with traffic congestion on account of IFFI every year and with that extra pile up of tons of garbage generated through this festival.
I personally feel that this festival has done nothing for Goans but has only helped all the discarded/aged/retired actors to come on a holiday every year and enjoy to the fullest at our tax payers money.
It has also helped politicians from our respective ruling governments to make some quick bucks by selectively giving contracts for their own.
I therefore fully believe that only a handful of people will find this festival giving benefits to Goans and that too despite of knowing that our government keeps unnecessarily spending crores of our hard earned money every year.
