Fuel prices are on fire once again as petrol has shot up to Rs 102 per litre in parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Prices are rising because State-run fuel retailers have started passing on the increase in crude prices to the consumer.
This government has already hit the middleclass where it hurts. Rewards of revolutionary decision by Indian public in 2014 general elections are flowing in with full dividends. The BJP government is making century everywhere, whether it's Covid or in fuel.
It punches the common man hard in the belly to pay for these astronomical prices without getting any consolation in prices and taxes on daily use products and other government taxes.
We are paying extremely high taxes in our country but still today our people are dying without even getting a bed in hospitals and in scarcity of basic medicines and oxygen.
In May 2012, when petrol prices were hiked by steepest Rs 7.54 a litre, the BJP leaders had called it a failure of UPA government. Today, petrol is the costliest in India compared to all of South Asia. The slogan 'Sab ke saath, Sab ke Vikas' is definitely food for thought.
