GCZMA doesnot have expertise to deal with the coastal violations in the State and the Goagovernment that is supposed to monitor and check all illegalities as cited inthe dailies is unable to initiate action against these blatant violations.
Similar wasthe case after the exit of Jose Manuel Noronha, who was the Chairman of the GoaState Pollution Control Board. After Noronha left, the pollution control boarddeveloped cracks and its working has suffered. The present board lacks the willto act against polluters despite their attention being drawn to violations.Both these agencies, so very vital to the health of the State, have been foundwanting. It is very important to protect our coast and our environment and boththese agencies have to rise to the occasion.
