Rapid urbanisation, aided and abetted by unscrupulous politicians and emasculated panchayats, is ruining the quaint character of our Goan villages. What were once clean, green and liveable spaces have turned into concrete eyesores, islands of garbage, and are totally unliveable now. Builders, hand in glove with the netas, are laughing all the way to the bank at the cost of the common man.
The carrying capacity of most villages has been breached, yet water- and power-guzzling megaprojects are being thrust down people’s throats. The villages are already stressed in every which way, but our leaders are making sure they die an agonising death. Enough is enough; this state needs a revolution. Let’s reclaim our beautiful Goa.
