Goa elections are like the IPL auction

Interestingly, Goa elections seem to be taking the same route as the IPL auction. In the ongoing IPL auction, the 8 teams are allowed to retain up to 3 Indian players and one foreign player. The rest are to go into a pool for the auction. Of the retained players, the 1st player gets a purse of Rs16cr, the 2nd Rs 12 cr, the 3rd Rs 8cr and the 4th Rs 6 cr. However, teams are allowed to retain less players, which gives them a bigger purse to splurge on the auction for the remaining player.

This is exactly what is happening in Goan politics today, except that officially there is no purse . Instead there are promises of ministership and other offices of profit, which translate into a much bigger purse. Goan parties have retained only some of their old players. Those players not retained are up for grabs. The 2 new teams in the political jamboree are TMC and AAP. They are free to pick and choose. May the best team win. After all, in the end you will be paying for this tamasha.
