Goa is not a circus--stop stunts on road by tourists

In a video that has gone viral a group of youths, believed to be tourists, were seen hanging out of a moving car on Mapusa road. In another incident at Baga at least ten young men were crammed into a single car, with two travelling in an open dickey as the car moved with its rear door fully open.  Such behaviour not only endangers the occupants of the vehicle but also puts the lives of other road users, pedestrians, and locals at serious risk. Equally concerning is the mindset of some visitors who appear to treat Goa as a place where rules can be ignored. The Goa Police and traffic authorities deserve appreciation for their efforts to maintain road safety, but stricter enforcement is necessary. Heavy fines, licence suspensions, vehicle impoundment, and legal action against repeat offenders can serve as strong deterrents. Tourist rental agencies should also be made accountable by educating customers about local traffic laws and safety requirements before handing over vehicles. Goa is not a circus where dangerous stunts can be allowed at the expense of public safety.
