Goans need to rise against MPA

The BJP is once again trying to allay the disasters that are in store for Goans through the Mormugao Port Authority by saying they will take locals into confidence on jetties.

First, the locals must enact laws on how they wish to leave resources for their future generations. They must list future business plans like marinas for the next 15 years. They must video record the current levels of water pollution especially the green embankments.

Once the jetties are used to store and load coal to be transported via water -- which will blacken the greenery and the waters -- there will be no vigilance possible.

These recordings can then be used to force the MPA to either stop the coal transport or bring back the environment to its original state.

A reputed agency needs to be hired to check air and water pollution levels and their sources ensuring calibrated instruments traceable to NABL labs.

If this is not done now, then we will have to rely on the warped IIT reports which say pollution in Vasco is due to stubble burning and vehicles and not coal.
