Goa’s double standards

The department authorities, along with some MLAs and ministers, are involved in illegal permission rackets. Outsiders are ruling Goa and taking over Goan businesses with the blessing of politicians. Because of this careless attitude, innocent employees and tourists lost their lives in a horrific fire tragedy.

Many outsiders come to Goa and act as if it is their personal property. We Goans welcome tourists, but only those who respect our culture and heritage. Visitors should enjoy their holidays and return home safely with good memories.

Goa has already faced tourist problems due to airline issues, and now the Arpora nightclub fire has raised serious safety concerns across the world. Despite this, the Goa government allows loud nightclub music till midnight, while Goan weddings are forced to stop sharply at 10 pm. This double standard exists because politicians and the police remain silent, allegedly due to regular pay-offs.

Why are Goan weddings not allowed till 11 pm, when Goans love music and dancing? It appears the government is more interested in pleasing outsiders than respecting the sentiments of Goans. This shows a lack of understanding of Goan culture and traditions.

Villagers living near nightclubs suffer every night due to loud music. Senior citizens, working people and school children have no peace or rest. The Chief Minister speaks big, but turns a blind eye to law and order issues. Let us work together to make Goa a better place for all.
