The West Bengal governor, a saffron sympathizer who has been accused by a woman of repeated sexual harassment cited his constitutional immunity from criminal proceedings and has also issued a gag order on his staff asking them to ignore any communication from the police, especially the 'Special Enquiry Team' or other law enforcement agencies. He also barred them from issuing any statements. His hiding behind a shield of immunity shows that he is running scared and that there is some substance to the accusations. The poor woman, a contractual worker has lost her job at Raj Bhawan simply because she had the courage to raise her voice against abuse by a person in a position of privilege. The governor is not above the law and can be prosecuted if found guilty under the IPC. He is very quick to visit areas in Bengal where riots take place and issue statements to show the state government in a bad light. This is nothing but abuse of gubernatorial privilege, as it is the office of the governor has been seriously undermined and has now merely become a branch office of the BJP.
