Govt must act on amenities for healthier lifestyles

Goa is witnessing a growing incidence of lifestyle-related health issues in the state and recently with regards to the same, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged Goans to adopt healthier lifestyles and appealed to citizens to exercise regularly, follow a balanced diet, and cut down on sugar and junk food consumption. Firstly, Goans must take full responsibility for their health and act accordingly is surely beyond any debate. However, my point to the government is what’s the point of speeches stating the obvious and the goverment is doing practically nothing to help citizens in the matter.  Exercise, yes but where?  How many clean/secure parks, cycling/jogging tracks etc. have been set up or facilitated by the ministers? Any open space is given priority to real estate development in haphazardly planned Goa. The expectation was that Goa would be planned better but the reality is no proper planning is done. Now not only towns but also villages are being messed up by the Goa government. I have seen how government' abroad act impressively on the same and in comparison, the Goa government's performance cuts a very sorry figure.
