The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials reportedly inspected seven food stalls operating in the Alankar area of Mapusa and found several shortcomings related to cleanliness and food handling practices. Following the inspection, five of the seven stalls were directed to immediately suspend cooking activities until the identified deficiencies are rectified. Officials said the action was taken after inspectors observed unsanitary conditions and lapses that could pose a risk to public health. Well, the cooks of most fast food stalls situated in the popular Alankar joint of Mapusa are indeed seen preparing their different food items in the most unhygienic manner by using dirty rain water filled in open plastic drums, keeping their half-boiled rice, noodles, chicken lollipops, chicken tandoori etc fully open and exposed to flies/flying air dust in huge metal 'handis'. Anyway, I'm happy that the FDA officials have finally taken a serious note of the above and have now decided to take a strict action against all fast food stalls operating in the Alankar area of Mapusa for playing with the health of Goans and not complying with food safety regulations.
