Is there any merit in aggressively pushing Ivermectin as a drug of unproven credentials against Covid19 except that is available free?
The manufacturers have made no such audacious claims anywhere, just like initial euphoria of Chloroquine. No nation is known to advocate Ivermectin. Then why is Goa government pushing it?
It is called wonder drug from Japanese microorganism in 1970 in collaboration with Merck and is an effective derivative from Avermectin.
However, it was highly effective veterinary drug for internal and external parasites and treated mites, lice, ticks in live stocks, pets. It is an effective broad spectrum drug with low toxicity and resistance free over 20 years in use.
The World Health Organisation has also advocated against the use of Ivermectin on a large scale except for clinical trials. Our government must take note of this. Hope better sense prevails on those in power.
