Government quarters are in poor condition. It has become difficult to live in quarters due to fall of ceilings, dripping of water due to rain, etc. Though HRA and annual maintenance fees are being deducted as per the 7th Pay Commission, the government quarters are poorly maintained by the PWD. Residents say that even after complaints have been made, nobody turns up to inspect the quarters. Even the new allottees has to with for long months or even year to get it repaired. The government should maintain these quarters and there should be some logical explanation for not taking care of them. Many of the quarters leak when it rains heavily. Thick vegetation has grown in several areas in some quarters. The PWD are giving repairs and renovation work to contractors without work orders and they carry out substandard work according to their whims and fancies. It is unlawful for any person or combination of persons to engage in the capacity of a contractor without having an active license. Any work taken up without a work order is illegal. The government should come forward and improve the conditions of these government quarters.
