We have seen a significant increase in retaliation by specific panchas, comunidade management members, in terms of filing FIRs, defamation suits and even cases of assaults, verbal intimidation by the said people or their accomplices or partners in crime from outside these bodies; but with vested interests. While all this might look as negative and unfortunate, the actual reality is that the common man is waking up to all the “wrong doings” which have been happening for years in these bodies by specific corrupt individuals ; but only very recently there is increasing scrutiny, questioning, protests and even action by concerned citizens and activists. To reiterate, many panchas, specific comunidade members in management are now being increasingly cornered, questioned by people in general and particularly genuine activists. Hence coming to my main point is these individuals in panchayats and comunidades are retaliating as they are getting increasingly frustrated that they cannot easily have their way. Hope Goans continue to increase in numbers to keep such people in check for the betterment of our state.
