While the Goa government led by Pramod Sawant has irresponsibly and recklessly been indulging in all sorts of unnecessary wasteful expenditure, it is very atrocious that the beneficiaries of social welfare schemes especially the elderly and vulnerable have not been receiving their monthly payments for the last many months. This bankrupt government which has been for long on a borrowing spree should have realized that all these grandiose needless functions and events cannot be held with the State coffers empty. All that money being flushed down the drain in a futile attempt by Sawant to glorify his sagging image is a criminal waste of public funds.
For rationalization in government spending, strong and sincere austerity measures need to be taken and superfluous spending prohibited. Due to the follies of this government we have landed in this fiscal upheaval. However now it would be the duty and responsibility of the next government to navigate Goa on the path towards restoring our State back on the road to economic prosperity.
