The recent announcement by the state government of Goa regarding entrance exam for professional engineering colleges in Goa to be decided based upon JEE MAIN results from the academic year 2024-2025 is not the correct decision as students lack professional training nor the school syllabus is at par with the CBSE board which is very essential to crack the JEE MAIN exam. Moreover, this decision will encourage mushrooming of coaching classes which will demand huge fees and stress these students to study 8 to 10 hours per day to achieve the best results. The coaching class fee structure will have grave impact on the finances of the parents / guardian. The government has justified their decision based upon percentage of students attempting JEE MAIN from Goa. The government should continue with GCET exam until the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education revises the education syllabus to be at par with CBSE board and also make sure to crack the mock JEE MAIN exam in two attempts before the JEE MAIN exam. In doing so, there will be fair play and confidence to attempt the JEE MAIN exam.
