It is not fair to say that the people of Guirdolim and Chandor, who are opposing double-tracking, have supported the BJP in the ZP elections. Please note that the BJP could win due to its big vote share in Balli which is far away from Chandor. The BJP's winning candidate was never seen in Chandor or the neighborhood for camping. It is the Deputy CM Babu Kavlekar who managed to swing the Balli votes to bring the BJP's lady candidate to power. She was seen for the first time after the counting of votes. The funniest part is she was standing for namesake and all the questions asked by the media were answered by the Deputy CM. Looks like she will be operated by someone else. People have neither forgotten the coal and double-tracking issues and nor is the win a stamp of approval for shoddy development. This is an issue that affects not only the people of Chandor and Guirdolim but every Goan. Remember, our environment is at stake. One thing clearly shows that Congress only gave lip service to the issue of double-tracking and never worked sincerely in the ZP election to win.
