High prices of coconuts

Coconut prices in Goa are rising because of higher demand, especially for tender coconuts, leading to a shortage of mature coconuts. Many farmers harvest coconuts early to meet the tender coconut demand, which reduces the supply of mature ones used for cooking and other purposes. There is also a shortage of labour to climb coconut trees, and pluckers charge high rates, which affects common people. Coconut is not only used in food but also in oil and other products. The younger generation in Goa should plant more coconut trees on their land and in their surroundings. The government should step in to support the people.
