Home isolation doesn't seem to be the right option

Withmore and more Covid-19 positive patients opting for home isolation, the last ofthe five Covid centres in Ponda will be shut down soon. Already, the ShirodaPrimary Health Centre has stopped fresh admissions. Patients who are not ableto get themselves quarantined at home are reportedly being sent to care centresat other locations. People who have tested positive may prefer home isolationfor various reasons which may also include the woeful condition of these carecentres. But the question that arises is whether or not home quarantine ofpeople who have tested positive will put the other members of the family atrisk of getting infected also. Maintaining social distancing at all timesduring home isolation may not be possible. It may also not be possible toimpose strict restrictions on patients leaving their homes during the homequarantine. This could lead to the spread of the infection. It must be saidthat though the number of positive cases reported in the state is on thedecline, we are still not out of the woods. The best option for people who havetested positive would be to opt for admission at a Covid care centre. For thisto happen, the facilities available at these care centres need to improvedrastically so that patients prefer to take treatment there and not opt forhome isolation.
