Increase fines for not wearing face mask


Although Covid-19 cases have been increasing by leaps and bounds during recent days, we still find people moving without a face mask at various public places. 

Some do wear it, but in a rather negligent manner. Such a situation proves dangerous to our society at large. Of course, necessary precautions need to be taken by everybody so as to maintain one’s safety in existing risky conditions. 

The Delhi government needs to be congratulated for initiating action against 5,073 people for non-wearing of mask and Rs 1.25 crore were collected from violators. 

The Goa government should follow the footsteps of the Delhi government and increase the fines to deal with the virus. 

People failing to wear a mask or those carrying it merely for a name’s sake should be taken to task at once.

Asymptomatic cases a cause for concern

It is learnt that in random testing in parliament on January 6 and 7, over 400 staff members tested positive. The disturbing fact is that most of the cases were asymptomatic. People tend to get tested only if they show symptoms. There are people who do not show any signs or symptoms of the disease on contracting it for the entire duration of the incubation period. As a result, they end up transmitting the virus.
