It must be said that these elections will be different in more ways than one. Party hopping by several prominent politicians may have confused the voters to some extent.
The question that the voters may probably be facing is whether they vote for a candidate who has shifted party loyalty or should they continue to vote for the political party they supported in the past.
Be that as it may, it is observed that several politicians and sitting MLAs have shifted party loyalty because they were not sure of getting tickets.
This does not mean that they will not contest. If no party is willing to give them a party ticket, then there is every possibility of them contesting as independent candidates.
As a result, Goa will in all probability see the highest number of Independents as compared to past elections.
There is every possibility that independent candidates will either split the votes or the victorious independent candidates will play a vital role in government formation.
