All eyes are set on March 10 when results of assembly elections held in Goa along with 4 other States will be declared.
This year elections in Goa were different from the past with many new parties entering the fray and the number of candidates contesting at an all time high.
Campaigning had reached a feverish pitch with parties attacking each other over their failures. The ruling BJP was at the receiving end from most of the parties for its failure on the development front and not providing basic necessities to the common man.
This election also saw many Independent candidates throwing their hat in the ring. This was because many of them were denied tickets by their parties at the last minute.
The grassroot level workers who were hoping for a ticket were the disgruntled lot forcing them to contest as independents.
Political pundits have predicted that no party will get absolute majority and will have to form alliances and take the help of Independent candidates.
In this situation, victorious Independent candidates will be much sought after by parties and will play a major role in the formation of the government.
The new Darbar Hall at Raj Bhavan has already been inaugurated by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu where the swearing in of new MLAs will take place.
Goans must now keep their fingers crossed and hope that they get a government that they deserve.
