I am writing about your recent article on the tragic death of an Indian student in the United States. While the exact cause is still unknown, I hope it is not connected to the growing exploitation of Indian students by cybercriminals. Lately, several Indian students in the US have been arrested for acting as money mules in fraud schemes. Scammers pose as government officials or tech‘support agents, use fear to trick elderly victims, and then ask students to collect cash, gold, or other valuables to launder the money for a small compensation. These students already face heavy financial pressure. The weak rupee makes tuition and housing in the US very expensive, and many families have taken huge loans. This situation makes students easy targets for such scams. Even with these risks, many Indian families still push for overseas education and jobs. This shows deeper problems at home. Like poor quality of life, growing income gaps, rising prices, and a government that rarely takes responsibility for accidents caused by poor infrastructure. Why do our young people feel forced to risk their futures abroad?
