Let me express first that during Portuguese era, tourists were almost negligible but tourism started growing and now is nearing saturation point and definitely by Christmas the crowd will be intolerable for motorists to move in the city. Today I had to struggle to even complete a round of the Dona Paula circle. Then I saw 3 policemen standing at the side of a police checkpost. I decided to convey my grievance to them. I told them that these tourists are crowding the circle and the road. They are not local but from neighbouring states who are roaming in any direction. Even to urinate, the tourists could not find any toilet nearby, and they had to use a nearby building wall in a private plot. My request to the government is to be alert right now as we are in October and God only knows what will happen by Christmas. Will the authorities improve the situation at least for Panaji if not Dona Paula as Christmas season is round the corner?
