Residents in Goa, particularly in the coastal belt, continue to suffer due to rampant loud music, even in residential areas. Yet, the BJP-led government under CM Pramod Sawant remains indifferent to this issue. Why is the Goa Government allowing such disruption? How are licences for loud music granted inside residential zones? Governance should ensure welfare, not promote such nuisances. Corruption and crime have become hallmarks of this administration, forcing the Judiciary to intervene repeatedly.
Residential areas need protection from noise 24/7, especially for children, the elderly, and the sick. However, local panchayats have failed, allowing commercial establishments to blast loud music at will. These governing bodies have become centres of corruption, grooming future politicians in the same system. With student exams approaching, the psychological impact of loud music on young minds is alarming. Instead of curbing noise pollution, CM Sawant seeks PM Modi’s approval to relax post-10 pm noise laws for tourism”an absurd move. Tourism does not mean disturbing residents for the benefit of a few greedy establishments and unruly tourists.
Goa’s tourism is declining due to corruption, drug hubs, overpriced services, and environmental neglect. Instead of pushing for loud music, the CM should focus on tackling inflation, pollution, and law enforcement failures. No country promotes tourism by disturbing residential areas. The Judiciary now steps in due to government failure. Hopefully, it will take strict action against this ongoing nuisance and the insensitivity of the BJP government.
