Whilst I am all for Konkani as the sole official language of the State of Goa, I request both Konkani and Marathi speaking people of Goa to critically think, as to if whether Konkani and Marathi (for that matter) will continue to have significant prominence in Goa if in-ward migration continues in Goa both  (A) via slum settlements created by Goan politicians or for that matter (B) the rampant/unchecked real estate development;  which besides destroying environment, trees, hills, waterbodies, fields, beaches, etc is also bringing with it large number of people from outside Goa who mainly speak Hindi and other Indian languages. If Hindi or say another Indian language gets majority status in Goa is it not likely that the official language will change anyway to reflect the demographic change of the future?  If Konkani/Marathi speakers become a minority in Goa how can we justify Konkani/Marathi to be included as main languages of Goa? The priority is to actually address the unchecked migration particularly the massive spurt of residential housing encouraged by corrupt Goan politicians for  people from outside Goa; which I think is the bigger threat to Konkani/Marathi.

The Congress party passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha…
