EAM Jaishankar has lately taken to pontificate on issues resulting in him taking some positions that are difficult to justify. The latest is his statement that with China our issues are not about territory. Is that the reason that on our borders with China, we have been gifting our territory to them? Large tracts of land on both our northern and north-eastern borders are under Chinese occupation and it should be our earnest endeavour to recover it from them. Instead of doing that our EAM seems to be laying the groundwork to legitimise that. Jaishankar more often than not tends to assume the know-all position particularly on China where he had a longish stint as Ambassador. But his years in Beijing seems to have been wasted since the dramatic detente in relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran recently was something he seemed not to be aware of. His ear to the ground in Beijing must be failing him. Thus Jaishankar needs to do his homework properly and focus on the correct things particularly when it comes to China who is our Enemy No. 1.
