This is with reference to the report, "Teen slits wrist as mom stops her from using mobile phone - The Goan Everyday October 15, 2022." That was certainly a very unfortunate incident, a teenager attempting suicide on not being allowed to use the mobile phone. Mobiles have turned the world upside down. Nobody every imagined that the mobile would one day rule over our minds & hearts, in fact it has taken a firm grip over our lives.
Let's face it, most of us are handicapped without a mobile. One can understand the desperation of that teenager who was denied the mobile. The mobile may have a boon during the lockdown when everything including studies, had become online. But now, it seems it has become a curse. This is indeed, a very delicate, sensitive issue and needs to be handled with kid gloves. Counselling would help to a great extent. At the end of the day, judicious use of the mobile is the way out.
