The dengue cases in Goa are on the rise and the government of Goa especially the health department along with the help of Village Panchayat and Municipality has to play an important role to see that they pest control the high risk areas by using the anti-mosquito larva treatment. Aedes mosquito lays eggs in stagnant water which can survive upto one year. Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with the dengue virus. It is vital to keep neighbourhoods clean and free of receptacles carrying water that attract the dengue carrying mosquitoes. The clean stagnant water found in pots, water containers, water drainage of waste water from the kitchen, trash which has accumulated in rain water are potential breeding grounds of the mosquito. Always take steps to control mosquitoes in and around your home by keeping the areas clean. Use insect repellents and wear long sleeved shirts and long pants to avoid mosquito bites. The health department in Goa should take necessary steps and responsibility to tackle the situation seriously.
