It is nice to see the Goan community settled abroad, in the western world, celebrating traditional Goan feasts/festivals. They seem to be proud of their culture and trying to keep alive their native Goan culture. Good thought that, of course. However, they should give a thought to what is happening in their native state of Goa. They have abandoned their native state and migrated in search of greener pastures in the western world but still want to keep alive their native culture? What are they trying to prove? Ideally, shouldn't they bury their native culture and immerse themselves in the local culture of the country they reside in?
Even today, there are so many who are migrating with Portuguese passports, abandoning their native land. Can this trend be arrested? And this goes for all other communities who are abandoning their respective native states and still want to keep alive their native culture. You cannot keep your feet on two boats at a time!
