The Goa Police, including the Crime Branch, South Goa Police and Calangute Police, deserve appreciation for their recent success in recovering lost and stolen mobile phones. Their efforts have strengthened public trust and highlighted effective policing. Towards the end of 2025, South Goa Police reported the recovery of several mobile phones, with many returned to rightful owners in a single operation. This achievement reflects the efficient use of the Central Equipment Identification Registry (CEIR) system along with technical tracking methods. Tourist police deployed in busy areas such as Calangute and Baga have also played a key role by apprehending offenders and tracing missing devices. After proper verification, recovered phones are handed back to owners, even those residing outside Goa. Citizens have widely praised these efforts. However, the public must also act responsibly by promptly reporting lost or stolen phones on the CEIR portal. Caution is advised when purchasing second-hand phones, as theft cases are rising in coastal areas like Calangute and Anjuna. Buying stolen devices can lead to financial loss and legal complications. Kudos to Goa Police for their commendable work.
