The capital city of Panaji is in a pathetic state. Visitors to the city to get their official work done at the government offices are put to untold misery. The rains have flooded many parts of the city. But then flooding of the capital city is not a new phenomenon. It has been taking place year in and year out due to clogged drains. This year the Smart City works have made things even worse. The traffic congestion in the city has reached the breaking point. Finding a parking place is like searching for a needle in a haystack. IFFI and other international functions are held in the city and large number of tourists visit the city due to the casinos. Hence it would seem most appropriate to shift the state capital to neighbouring Porvorim. The satellite city of Porvorim already has the State Assembly Complex, the judiciary, executive. Other government offices could be shifted from Panaji to a single government building at Porvorim. Being located at a height there will be no flooding and the newly built Atal Setu makes travelling to Porvorim a pleasant experience. Other states in the country have the legislative complex in the capital city.
Govt should appoint efficient minister for garbage disposal
Our beautiful state of Goa is drowning in garbage with the government doing precious little about it. From the village to the beach roads to the city all you see is garbage and stray dogs.
