The BJP government takes no responsibilities for its actions. They feel their job is to legislate based on proposals from businessmen. The near miss accident at Dudhsagar is a case in point. Why are these footbridges and water sports equipment not inspected every new tourism season? All the Tourism Department does, come September, is get the locals to clean the beaches. The tourism minister must take responsibility for the footbridge collapse. A BJP politician's death exposed the very well-hidden drug scenario: locals voices were never listened to.
First, the BJP government must prove it can handle the existing tourism infrastructure in a sustainable, hygienic, noise-free, and clean manner before rushing for jetties and more problems. The jetties are part of a hidden agenda to bring in private yachts -- free marinas. See the glass bottles on beaches: now the same will be replicated in the waters as well. Businesses wishing to set up base here must pay good wages and working conditions. For eg A medical firm's employees reside 6-10 in 2-bedroom flats. Why hand over prime assets to such businesses.
