Recently we saw a really unfortunate case of tragedy where people unnecessarily died or were injured at a a temple stampede in Bicholim, corruption after crores of rupees were wasted at the renovation of the Kala Academy in Panaji, Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik suspended for massive fraud, irregularities being done in the TCP dept. In all of these cases officials, bureaucrats, contractors were pulled up for punishment but the show seems to go on, for the politicians are overall in charge ie respective ministers. Should the ministers in charge not have resigned or be relieved of their ministries. One wonders, if the said officials, bureaucrats, contractors etc will “actually be punished” or this is just a gimmick/diversion by the Goa government to show Goans that they have taken proper action against those responsible and hence calmed public anger. Unless the ministers are punished nothing will change. In my view the Goa government ministers are just fooling the people.
