Two days back there was a report that Maimolem lake area and fields located at Vasco were contaminated with black water. The sewage water is discharged by some establishments and residential units and hence the nullahs and lake nearby got contaminated with black water. The residents around the area faced bad smell and hence could not bear the same. There was a plan to convert the lake as tourist spot. Another concern is the field which was used by locals to cultivate vegetables got affected due to unusual rains and water turning black. Municipality should take action by initiating a drive to clean all 'nullahs' around Vasco so as to keep city clean. The said contaminated water can also lead to water-borne diseases. The government should take immediate steps to stop this pollution and save lakes and fields around the city.
