As the monsoon season comes to a close, Benaulim's drainage systems remain neglected, with no cleaning or maintenance having been carried out. This has led to open drains becoming overgrown with grass and shrubbery, posing a significant hazard to vehicular traffic.
The overgrowth makes these drains almost invisible to drivers, increasing the risk of accidents. Unfortunately, several accidents have already occurred along the stretch from Varca to Holy Trinity Church, yet the panchayat and municipal authorities seem oblivious to the issue.
It is imperative that the vegetation be trimmed as soon as possible to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and those on two and four-wheelers.
Immediate action can prevent further accidents and enhance public safety.
