The 40-member Goa Legislative Assembly has as many as 19 MLAs who are first-time legislators. These new MLAs have a task at hand. They need to complete the projects initiated by their predecessors irrespective of the party they belong to and at the same time introduce new projects for their constituencies. In order to complete old projects, it would be desirable for the newly elected MLAs to take the advice of the former elected representatives who had initiated the projects. This will save a lot of time in completing the said projects. However, there could be instances wherein the present elected representative totally shelves the projects initiated by the former MLA belonging to another political party so that the credit for the project does not go to him/her. This should not be the case. A project needs to be completed if it is for the betterment of society. Leaving aside all the hard feelings and grudge experienced during the campaign leading to the elections, the present and the former elected representatives need to work in tandem for the development of their constituency irrespective of who gets the credit.
