Noise pollution along north coast worsens

The Baga Xavier Retreat House, has complained to the Calangute Police about the constant noise pollution on Baga  beach.  In their  complaint, the Director of  Xavier Retreat House informed that since the shacks have opened, they are facing problem of blaring music on Baga beach by a few restaurants which continues till 3 am. However, a few beach shacks  in Baga continue to  play loud music beyond  10.00 pm and sometimes till 5.30 am. In 2006 Bombay  High Court at Goa  took suo motto cognizance of it in  PIL 4 of 2006. A committee was appointed to monitor and to submit report to SP North on noise rules  violation but the committee has not been provided police protection. The scene has worsened in last three years. As rightly said by Justice Karnik of Goa Bench, the appointing of a non practicing/practising  lawyer as a committee Member to coastal committees  ie Calangute- Candolim and Anjuna will restore confidence in the people of Bardez taluka . The Morjim/Ashvem  committee has a practicing lawyer Prasad  as a member of the committee  hence there are no violations reported by the people of Pernem.
