Though late, it’s a welcome gesture by a young, first-time politician and Leader of the Opposition. The bill to officially recognise Opinion Poll Day will be watched with keen interest. Regardless of official recognition, the day continues to be observed on 16th January. The success of the opinion poll has preserved our identity, culture, traditions, and language, allowing us to call ourselves Goans.
Monuments to the Father of the Opinion Poll were established by private Goan initiatives. Sadly, the government neglected his birth centenary while honouring someone who sought to destroy our identity.
