On jobs-for-cash mega scam

The news report ‘Accused in jobs-for-cash scam drops a bombshell’ (TGE, Nov. 8) only confirms earlier reports that top government officials were involved in the mega scam of receiving hefty payments of bribe money for government jobs. What a crying shame indeed.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should live up to his earlier assurances that no efforts would be spared and the fraudsters would be punished. Considering the gravity of the scam involving bribe money of a whopping Rs 17 crore paid to government officials, a high-level inquiry should be conducted without further delay, as a few more skeletons are likely to tumble out of some more high-profile officials.
