Opposition should be constructive in Assembly


Lack of proper discussion of bills in Parliament leads to complexity in the law, resulting in increased litigation, loss of time and inconvenience  to the citizens. 

Detailed discussion reduces the number of cases. This statement has been made by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Both the ruling party and the Opposition have experience in running the government. But when there is a government, Opposition groups call for a boycott of the Assembly, saying "the bill was passed without discussion." 

Controversy and criticism are synonymous with the Opposition. Rather than holding a discussion they seem to be more interested in stalling the proceedings of the House. 

This is the case in all the States Opposition parties do not allow the functioning of the Assembly. The recent boisterous scenes in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha painted a sorry picture of India the world over.

Public frustration is writ large and its time the Opposition parties need to understand that opposing for the sake of opposing will not work.

Goans, tourists need safety at beaches

With the rising atrocities on females at the beaches, the same are no longer safe for public at large. It is rather unfortunate that innocent youngsters have been losing their precious lives. If such ugly incidents occur regularly, even tourists would refrain from visiting our State.
