Fake dentists fleecing tourists. We as Goan dentists should applaud Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s speech on Sunday addressing the dentist conference. As a dentist, I appreciate the Chief Minister's great and heroic outspoken feelings, if it is for a right objective. The “fake dentist” fleecing foreign tourists along the coastal belt has been going for a number of years. As a senior dentist, I would appreciate if the CM would acknowledge my complaint to protect my fellow Goan dentists and the medical tourism. On further probing, I would like to know what steps did the Tourism Department take to clamp down on these fake dentists. On further investigation, how did the panchayat / municipality issue trade licenses to these dentists. To crown the issue, how did the Dental Council permit these fake non-Goan so called dentists to practise. Would the Chief Minister join hands with the Health Minister, pursue the issue through proper channels and close down these illegal dental clinics? I for one would like to see only Goan dentists on the dentist's chair healing the tourist with joy after a painless visit to a dentist.
