Politicians must not sow seeds of discord among people

Apropos to ‘India lives in villages...’ (The Goan Everyday 7 May 2022), Governor of Goa, P S Sreedharan Pillai has rightly spoken. Truly, India lives in villages and India’s growth depends on agriculturists and farmers. It is the farmers who ensure that we have food on our table. And yet, ironically it is these very farmers against whom the three farms laws were directed and they were forced to come out on the streets and agitate for almost a year. We need to take a more sensitive and understanding approach towards our farmers and our villages. And another important point the Governor has made is that of spirituality. Yes, spirituality is India’s greatest contribution to the world. India was known the world over for its spirituality. There are so many religions in our country and we are fortunate that the people of this country live as one homogeneous nation in spite of the different religions that we profess. We need to respect that spirituality. It is our politicians who sow seeds of discord among the people. We shall reap as we sow!
