Covid cases are rising in our tiny state and all newspapers have been reporting on the worsening crisis. This could be the failure to check crowds on beaches. Weddings and entertainment halls, including cinema theatres, are also seeing large crowds. The government must enforce strict measures at this stage to stop the Covid surge. Recently, near my residence, I could see hundreds of people crowding for jobs at the Health Minister’s bungalow in Dona Paula. With elections round the corner, every politician is suddenly trying to help voters to find jobs without realising that crowds are getting bigger making it conducive for the virus to spread. This must be curtailed immediately before the situation turns alarming. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should direct his colleagues to stop encouraging crowds seeking jobs. Applications for jobs should be entertained only by government authorities through proper channels and not by politicians at their residences.
