Poll fever gaining ground in State

With elections round the corner there is a flurry of activities by spirited individuals, groups and nascent bodies. A feverish pitch is being raised hoping to impress the voters with much needed change.

Indian politics is entrenched in money and muscle power. Politicians use the system to give doles and schemes to keep gullible voters as bonded political slaves. They cultivate, nurse and sustain them with personal needs that matter most of the time.

Politicians thus ensure vote banks that will see them through. Money, drinks, goodies flow and voters sell their vote and conscience too.

Does it make sense to elect the same people time and again?

The youth of today can make a perceptible change for better, but their energy needs to be channelized and focussed. 

The time is now. Think before you cast your precious vote.

Penalise officials causing loss to exchequer

The Goa government’s Public Works Department (PWD) runs various Water Treatment Plants in the State. Strangely for the treatment of raw water the chemical used is not uniform at all the plants.While at some plants they use Alumina Ferric (Alum) which costs around Rs 22000 a tonne, the PWD engineers at some plants are high-handedly using Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) which costs around Rs 45,000 a tonne.
