Price rise govt's post-poll gift to voters

It is a common phenomenon that prices of all commodities show upward trend post elections. The haste with which unemployed are further burdened is bereft of any reason,  except that contributors to election process can now take their pound of flesh. The steep rise in onions, tomatoes, beans and all other vegetables of daily use, voters are forced to bear the brunt of escalating prices.The statistics rattled out on GDP have no relation to per capita income and India lies at the bottom of this ladder amongst neighbouring nations. There is no respite and relief from heat waves adding to woes of water scarcity in the rainy season. Our legislators have no time to listen  and are busy feathering their own nests till the next elections . Our right to vote has no  corresponding duty post elections and we have to fend for ourselves . It is noticed that all commodities across board have risen by Rs20 to Rs 35 plus immediately. It is the govt's post-election gift to voters.

Protection walls may not protect one from boulders

Occupants in a car reportedly had a narrow escape when a portion of a protection wall came crashing down and large boulders came tumbling down on NH66 at Malpem in Pernem on Saturday. Locals have reportedly accused the highway contractors of sub-standard work.
