Last Saturday, on July 11, a coconut tree fell on a power line at Baga Arpora. In terms of electricity service, Baga, Arpora falls within the limits of Calangute Electricity Office. Therefore, Vidyadhar Divkar, panch member of Baga ward, called the lineman of Calangute. It is true that linemen had come, but they did not have a ladder to climb the pole. They were demanding for a long ladder. Who owns these ladders nowadays? Later on power was restored anyhow. If the Calangute power workers are having difficulty for repairing the power, the power department should include the so-called part of Baga area within the boundaries of the Arpora power office.
In case of power services, the power department should provide appropriate services to the linemen. Otherwise, the concerned area at Baga-Arpora should be included in the jurisdiction of Arpora village to provide smooth electricity service to the people.
Separating Baga-Arpora and Baga-Calangute will solve the problems in this area forever.
