The Saligao panchayat on Monday has reportedly removed a few unauthorised 'gaddas' or stalls parked on the roadside in various parts of the village for causing a nuisance and blocking the view of motorists using these roads. The Saligao Sarpanch Lucas Remedios has claimed that the licenses of most of these stalls were in certain individuals name but they were sublet to outsiders and due to which the panchayat had no other alternative but to seize all such unauthorised stalls to teach the actual license holders a hard lesson. Well, what the Sarpanch has said is partly true but at the same time I feel that the guys who have taken licenses and are still subletting their stalls to outsiders are mostly all locals from the same village. I therefore personally feel that the Saligao panchayat should stop fooling the people conducting such temporary drives against certain stall owners for time-pass and instead should permanently go to cancel the licenses of all the above businesses-minded people (locals as well as some former/current panch members) who are still subletting their 'gaddas' or stalls to outsiders.
