P'yats need technical officer to prepare reports

This is with reference to the recent High Court of Bombay at Goa ruling with regards to the PIL Suo Moto 3 of 2024 with regards to the illegalities in constructions in many of the villages in Goa. The Panchayat has now started to act on powers which are embedded in the Panchayat Raj Act and which has never been followed by the panchas with the vote banks weighing more than the rules. Now the report by the VP Secretary has to be prepared and sent to the High court. With the panchayat members and the secretary having no technical background, there is a need for a technical officer at panchayat level. This will help the local bodies to prepare a transparent report rather than submission of false reports which will affect many Goenkars.

Act against tourist vehicles with 'police' signboards

A video that has gone viral on social media shows locals questioning a car with a registration number of another state displaying a “Police” signboard. When questioned, the tourists could not prove that they were indeed policemen. There have been several such instances in the past when visitors, who are not policemen, were apprehended for driving their vehicle with a “Police” signboard displayed on the windshield.
